It turns out that road hockey is a dangerous game. While playing with some friends/former colleagues yesterday morning, I took a hockey stick to the face. Nothing broken, but it split my lip open most dramatically. I ended up somewhat blood-spattered and bruised. The lip was swollen and purple and rather painful. Uck. It's both looking and feeling better today, but it's still an interesting colour. You know, it had never occurred to me before that lips can bruise just like regular skin does. But they do.
(and, for the record, the wielder of the hockey stick was duly apologetic)
