Appearances to the contrary, I have not fallen off the face of the planet

I know, I know -- I haven't posted anything in ages and ages and ages. I've been pretty scatttered lately, racing off in a million different directions. Things are generally good, but I don't seem to be sitting still much.

The job is going well. I'm starting to settle in and get up to speed and all that good stuff. It's not super-busy yet, as I'm being eased into things, and I seem to spend a lot of my time reading reports, but that's pretty standard for a new position. I'm trying to enjoy the slack time, since it's probably going to "ramp up" very soon (see how I've got the lingo down?). I continue to like my boss and my coworkers, and I continue to expect the "real" owner of my fancy office to show up and kick me out (there is no real owner. It's really my office. I'm just having trouble believing that).

I went to see House of Sand and Fog on the weekend. It was really really good, but thoroughly gut-wrenching. It really put me through the emotional wringer -- I don't think anything's gotten me quite so strongly since Dancer in the Dark. It was playing as part of a double bill with Big Fish, and I had intended to stay for it (since I haven't seen it yet, shockingly enough), but C was just too shaken by House, so we walked home and processed instead. I think it was the right call -- the processing was much-needed.

Anyway, I need to get back to work, so I'll leave this for now. More updating to come! Thrills! Chills! Spills!

  • Seasonal

  • Comeuppance

I really do know better. I am fair-skinned, I need to reapply sunscreen regularly. So I absolutely earned and deserved this sunburn. Bad Guider!…

  • Ode to my City

So last night, I went out skating on the canal with some friends. It was late, so it wasn't too crowded, and the weather was lovely -- not too cold…
