It's the top floor of a small house, and the landlord lives on the bottom floor. He's set it up so that the entrance way belongs entirely to my apartment, so that I have STAIRS that are all mine, and a little entrance hall area. (his entrance is around the side) It's all hardword, recently refinished, with a cute little balcony at the front. The kitchen is lovely and large -- I have room to get a proper dining table! The only real downside is that I don't have laundry right in the building -- it looks like I'm going to have to use a laundromat. Which is a bit of a pain, but I'm entirely willing to make that sacrifice, because the place is lovely. Really, I was overwhelmed. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but he's done an incredible amount of work on the inside, and it's in really good shape. Plus, the current tenant has painted, and she chose some really nice colours -- subdued greens and so on -- so I don't have to deal with builder's beige. Oh, I'm so excited (as if you couldn't tell!).
For those who know the area at all, it's on Rochester St., between Somerset and Gladstone -- near Little Italy and just a few blocks down from the Chinatown area. A bit of a longer bus ride to work, but that's okay. Kind of near where R and I used to live, actually.
The landlord's very nice, and I think we're going to get along well. He even said I could raid his tomato garden!
So yes. I think it's going to be great. Housewarming party this summer! :D
(Now I just have to start packing....!)
