The weekend was crazy-busy. Went out with C and some of his cow orkers on Friday, and ended up having substantially more to drink and staying out substantialy later than anticipated. I slept poorly as a result, and was really tired on Saturday, but then went out with a bunch of softball people on Sat. night. And then Sunday night I went to see Cyndi Lauper at the Congress Centre -- which was a really good and fun show. And then I was tired yesterday, but instead of going to sleep early as I had planned, I stayed up to finish the last book in Phillip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy, which was really really good but dreadfully sad at the end. So I am still short on sleep.
I learned a new word, too. Mephitic means poisonous, noxious, or foul-smelling. And I learned it from a book that is shelved in the "Children" or "Teens" section. Go figure.
Oh, and I also finally bought a digital camera on the weekend! This is terribly exciting. You can probably expect this journal to be filled up with pictures as I start to get it working. It's a Canon Powershot A80, which has generally been well-spoken of, and has enough features for me to play with, without being overloaded with features that I am not yet skilled enough to use. The instant gratification factor is very nice -- no more waiting for film to be developped to see how pictures turn out! And I can take a whole bunch of pictures and then only keep the good ones, instead of wasting rolls and rolls of film! While I am a little sad to see film going by the wayside -- I really enjoyed working in the darkroom when I got to do it in high school -- there is a lot to be said for the digital camera, at least for recreational photographers.
And this coming weekend I am going to Toronto! I'm terribly excited. I get to go to the ROM! And wander about the big city! And go to shows! And be in another place for a few days! (this last is perhaps the most important part) Yay yay yay.
So that's what's been going on in my world. Plans for tonight include gym-going and sleeping. No really. I'm going to bed early tonight. I swear. Okay, maybe not early, but at least at a reasonable hour. Why are you looking at me like that? Don't you believe me?
