I went to see Spellbound last night. It was really, really good. I want to say "heartwarming", but that conjures up all kinds of drippy movie-of-the-week images, which is not what this movie was like at all. It's a documentary about a bunch of kids competing at the US National Spelling Bee. I would never have imagined an entire audience could get so involved in a story about a spelling bee, but you could hear the groans when kids were eliminated. I wasn't the only one to have picked favourites to root for.
Hey, nifty -- a couple of the kids who were in the movie have been posting on the IMDb message board.
Anyway, the point of this rather scattered review: many, many stars. Let's call it 5, since that's a pretty standard scale: *****
